How much data do you use with your iPhone?

I am giving heavy consideration to getting an iPhone. I know that, for now, Verizon is still offering the unlimited data plan for $29.99 per month. I'm wondering, though, is unlimited data necessary? On average, how much data do you all use, and for what do you use your iPhone? If I get one, I know that I will use it frequently. The motherboard on my laptop died and I can't buy a new computer any time soon, so if I get the phone, it will take its place for several things, at least when I'm out and about and away from home.

I'm not eligible for an upgrade until August, so I still have some time to think about everything, however, there are rumors that VZW will be discontinuing the unlimited data offer at some point, and that makes me a bit nervous.

honestly, I usually get verry close to my 2 gig cap. I would use more if I was able, but I wasn't lucky enough to get in on unlimited.

If you have an internet connection at home you use a lot less. I use 50 to 100 mb a month (have a 200mb plan).
The phone will try to connect to wireless networks if it can detect them (Starbucks, hotels, Mickey Ds, schools etc) and I make sure always to use those. When I use the phone at home I use my network and cable modem connection for all surfing, so I end up using very little data from the 3G network.

Wish you open this up for other smart phone users but I get where your coming from. I have been told some months by t-mobile I eat through my plan to the point the throttal me down because my tethering habits but I am not a Iphone user. Still I have to ask will you use a tethering app on the Iphone?, will you bee streeming hulu, you tube and other streeming apps like Jango, slacker radeo. Keep these apps in mind when your out and about. Jango is probly one of my reasons why I push up against my cap before I am slowed down. I hope this helps even though I am not a Iphone user.

For me unlimited data is insurance. I've never checked to se what I use but do stream audio. I'd rather spend a bit more and know that I won't get billed extra incase I go over.

I don't imagine I use much since any internet usage I do with my IPhone is handled via my Wi-Fi network or my folks' when I visit their house. I only use mine for posting Facebook statuses and downloading Ringtones thse days.
